Membership Requirements
ASEMFL Full Membership is open to:
- Members of NASEM (the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine) and Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), who reside and/or have employment in the State of Florida. NASEM members and NAI Fellows will be invited to accept an automatic membership into the Academy (ASEMFL).
- Individuals who are not in NASEM or NAI Fellows (who reside and/or have employments in the State of Florida) but reside and/or work in the State of Florida and are at the senior level in their organization and have an outstanding record of accomplishments, leadership, and national and international recognition. These individuals must be nominated by either an ASEMFL Full Member or a NASEM member by completing a nomination form documenting the accomplishments of the candidate. The details of the nomination process are provided in the documents below.
ASEMFL Associate Membership is open to:
- Individuals who reside and/or work in the State of Florida and are at a mid-career level in their organization and have an outstanding record of accomplishments, rising national and international recognition, and exhibit great potential for future impact. Nominations are limited to Associate Professors at any stage and Full Professors for at most three full years after promotion, or an equivalent level for non-academic nominees. Eligibility is based on rank as of Nov. 1, the deadline for nominations. For example, for the 2025 nomination cycle, Full Professors promoted effective in 2022 or later meet the eligibility criteria. These individuals must be nominated by someone at the same rank or higher by completing a nomination form documenting the accomplishments of the candidate.
