A. Stewart Fotheringham is Krafft Professor of Spatial Data Science in the Department of Geography and Director of the Spatial Data Science Center (SDSC) in the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy at Florida State University. His research interests are in the analysis of spatial data sets using statistical, mathematical and computational methods. He is well-known in the fields of spatial interaction modeling and local statistical analysis, the latter as one of the developers of multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR). He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and Academia Europaea and an Academician in the UK's Academy of Social Sciences. He has been awarded Fellowships in the American Association of Geographers, the University Consortium for GIS, and both a Lifetime Achievement Award and an Honorary Membership by the Chinese Professionals in GIS. He has been awarded more than $15 million in funding, published 12 books and over 250 research papers and book chapters. He currently has over 46,000 citations to this research and was awarded a prestigious Highly Cited Researcher award by Clarivate recognizing him as “1 in a 1000” highly influential researchers.
