Dr. Patricia Davis-Lemessy is a distinguished Engineering Fellow at Cordis Corporation, with over 25 years of experience in the regulated medical device industry. Her pioneering work in polymer science has led to transformative innovations across angioplasty catheters, ocular and tendon implants, and drug delivery systems. Recognized for her technical leadership and problem-solving expertise, Dr. Davis-Lemessy has saved her organizations hundreds of millions of dollars through proactive product recall prevention strategies. A subject matter expert in polymer materials and their processes, Dr. Davis-Lemessy is credited with developing laser fusion technology for catheter components, a breakthrough that earned her a U.S. patent. Her efforts have not only led to the award of major court settlements exceeding $700 million for Johnson & Johnson/Cordis, but also helped establish robust raw material strategies and supply chain continuity within the company. She is certified in DMAIC and DMADV methodologies as a Johnson & Johnson Black Belt. Her career spans leadership roles at Creganna-Tactx Medical, WL Gore, Merit Medical Systems, and Biocompatibles Cardiovascular. She began her professional ascent at Guidant Corporation – ACS, Inc., where she led the Materials Characterization Laboratory and initiated data management systems for laboratory test data. Dr. Davis-Lemessy holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science from the University of Connecticut, a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Materials Science from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed her postdoctoral research at the University of Miami's Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. In recognition of her contributions, she has received numerous honors including the Cardinal Health Innovation Award and several Johnson & Johnson ENCORE awards. Her academic work is published in leading scientific journals, and she holds multiple patents in the field of biomaterials and catheter design. A native of Montego Bay, Jamaica, Dr. Davis-Lemessy immigrated to the United States at age 10. A former Ivy League track champion, she now resides in Davie, Florida and is a proud mother to one adult child.
