Dr. Deepika Singh, a successful entrepreneur, co-founded Sinmat, a materials technology company, to develop and commercialize Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) technologies for super-hard materials such as Silicon carbide, Gallium nitride, Sapphire and Diamond for the semiconductor and power electronics industry. As CEO of Sinmat, she grew the company from a small business to a leading global supplier of CMP products. These technologies are currently used in manufacturing of advanced silicon carbide electronics for Electric vehicles, 5G communications infrastructure, advanced Defense Electronics, Smartphones and Smartwatches. Sinmat was acquired by Entegris, a leading supplier of specialized materials and chemicals to the semiconductor industry. In 2022, Deepika Singh was elected to the prestigious U.S National Academy of Engineering (NAE). She is also a member of the Academy of Science Engineering and Medicine of Florida ( ASEMFL). In October 2023 she was inducted into the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame. She was recognized personally by President Obama at a White House press conference for developing new ways to improve microchip manufacturing which can help power smart energy systems. She is a recipient of numerous awards including four R&D100 awards also known as the “Oscars of Invention” given once a year for developing the top 100 technology products. She has authored of over 35 issued patents and numerous publications. She received her MS degree from the University of Florida and her D.SC. in Materials Science and Engineering from EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland.
