Martín-J. Sepúlveda, M.D., FACP, FAAP, FACOEM, is an IBM Fellow, and elected member of the National Academy of Medicine , the Florida Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, the Florida Association of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and the Connecticut Academy of Science and Technology. He is a Distinguished University Professor at Florida International University in the office of the Senior Vice President for Economic Development and Dean of the Graduate Colleges, and the retired chair of the National Academy of Medicine's Section 12 Health Services Administration, Research, Education and Policy. He served for 3 years on the Membership Committee of the National Academy of Medicine, 6 years on the National Academy of Medicine's Board on Children, Youth and Families, and 6 years on the National Academy of Medicine's Board of Population Health and Public Health Practice. For his decades of impactful contributions to the Nation's health through the National Academy of Medicine, he was awarded the Academy's highest honor in 2024, the Walsh McDermott Medal. He is also the CEO of CLARALUZ LLC, a health, data, technology, and analytics consulting firm, and a senior executive advisor to numerous health technology start-up companies. He had a distinguished 30-year career in the IBM Corporation , serving as US Medical Director, Global Medical Director, Vice President of Integrated Health Services, Vice President of Global Health Benefits and Well-being, and the IBM Vice President of Health Systems and Policy Research, Research Division. He is an active member of the board of advisors at the EIDOS LGBTQI Institute at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, the board of advisors at the College of Public Health at the University of Iowa, the board of advisors at the Harvard University Center for Work, Health and Well-being, and serves as senior advisor to the Dean of the College of Nursing at Florida State University. He has numerous scientific peer-reviewed publications in diverse fields ranging from dust-induced occupational respiratory diseases, wellness and health promotion in the workplace, the well-being of children and young adults to the use of clinical decision support computer applications in cancer, the need for safety systems and transparency in artificial intelligence development and applications, and population health in the private sector.
