Thank you for visiting the Rising Stars portal.

The Rising Stars Program of the Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine of Florida (ASEMFL) recognizes outstanding early-career professionals who demonstrate exceptional promise in addressing critical challenges in science, engineering, and medicine. Eligible candidates include assistant professors within seven years of their initial academic appointment, as well as junior-to-mid-level professionals in industry, nonprofit, or government roles within ten years of their first independent position. Nominees must live or work in Florida.

The ASEMFL Annual Meeting provides a platform to formally recognize Rising Stars, foster meaningful engagement with members of ASEMFL and the National Academies, and strengthen connections aligned with ASEMFL’s mission and programming.

The 2026 ASEMFL Annual Meeting will be held on November 6–7 at the University of South Florida’s Marshall Student Center (MSC) in Tampa, Florida. Rising Stars will receive formal recognition and are expected to deliver a two-minute “rapid-fire” presentation highlighting their innovative work and key contributions, supported by a single high-impact video (maximum size: 50GB).

Full participation in the two-day meeting, including attendance at all sessions and networking events, is expected and required for the conference fee to be waived and travel expenses to be covered.

Deadline for Self-Nomination Submission is Saturday, August 1, 2026.
