Bio
Dr. Ranajay Ghosh is associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL. He earned his PhD from Cornell University, Ithaca NY in mechanical and aerospace engineering and a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. His research focusses on the mechanical behavior of advanced materials such as bioinspired metamaterials, architected composite materials, and additive manufacturing with applications to morphing and multifunctional aerospace structures, extra-terrestrial manufacturing, and soft robotics. His research has led to over 75 peer reviewed journal publications, over 50 conference abstracts and 3 US Patents appearing. His work has appeared in numerous high impact journals such as PNAS, Physical Reviews, Journal of the Royal Society, Lab on a Chip and Applied Physics Letters featuring on the cover 7 times, and cited more than 3000 times. His research has been regularly covered by media such as the New Scientist, Newsweek, Discovery and New York Times. His work has been supported by NSF, DARPA, DoE and AFRL. He was among the selected faculty to participate in US-Israel faculty exchange of the Jewish National Fund (‘22). He is a recipient of the prestigious NSF CAREER award.
