Laura Greene is the chief scientist at the National MagLab, and the Francis Eppes Professor of Physics FSU. Her research focuses on quantum materials, including topological matter and high-temperature superconductors. As president of the American Physical Society (APS), Greene’s theme was science diplomacy and human rights. She serves on the Board of Directors of AAAS and is a vice president of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP). She is a champion for diversity and works with teams that promote the success of young scientists, particularly in developing countries. She plays leadership advisory roles for DOE, NSF, and NASEM – currently co-chairs the Decadal Survey for Materials Research. Visiting positions include CNRS-Orsay, UCI, Cambridge-UK, and Seoul National. Editorial positions include Reports on the Progress in Physics (editor-in-chief), Philosophical Transactions A, and Current Opinions in Solid State & Materials Science (COSSMS). Greene is a member of NASEM, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Institute of Physics (UK), the AAAS, and the APS. Recognitions include a Guggenheim fellowship, the Lawrence Award for Materials Research, the Maria Goeppert-Mayer Award. She has co-authored over 200 publications and presented over 500 invited talks.
