We welcome all interested stakeholders (faculty, industry, government professionals, postdocs, students, and community members) to attend the 2025 Annual Meeting.

The Annual Meeting will be held at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, 9907 Universal Blvd, Orlando, FL 32819. The Annual Meeting hotel is Rosen Centre, 9840 International Dr., Orlando, FL 32819. Shuttle service will be provided between the hotel and the meeting venue; parking will also be available at the meeting location.

The annual meeting will feature Dr. Holden Thorp, AAAS Editor-in-Chief of Science, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Thorp will join the stage with Dr. Mary Woolley, President and CEO of Research!America research advocacy alliance, and David Super, Georgetown University Professor of Law, to help us engage in a critical discussion on “Navigating the Evolving Landscape in Higher Education Research”. This will be a timely and important conversation for all!

The meeting will feature other exciting sessions on adapting to changes in Florida's aquifers, springs, and coasts, forging resilience in space, and insights into the National High Magnetic Field Lab and its role in advancing materials, energy, and health in Florida. The meeting will include the induction of new ASEMFL members – please join us in celebrating our newest members! The Induction Ceremony for new ASEMFL members will happen at the beginning of the meeting, November 7, 2025.

The ASEMFL Annual Meeting will also feature Poster Sessions and recognition of Rising Stars. Posters by trainees and early-stage researchers in industry, non-profit, or government positions will provide a great opportunity for networking and learning about specific projects in sciences, engineering, and/or medicine. Rising Stars are assistant professors or junior-to-mid-level professionals in industry, non-profit, or government who are making a significant impact in sciences, engineering, and/or medicine. Rising Stars will be recognized formally and will give rapid-fire presentations for everyone to learn about their impactful contributions.

New additions include a speed mentoring/networking session for our trainees, Poster Presenters, Rising Stars, and other attendees to connect with ASEMFL and National Academies members and a session on the “Amplifying Florida’s Voice: Learn What the National Academies Do and How You Can Get Involved” to provide connections with National Academies members and insights into what the National Academies do and you how you can become engaged.
